The Process. A Novel
£95.00
First thus. Hardback in dust jacket. 353pp. Jacket slightly rubbed to edges and a little faded in places; some creasing to spine. A near fine copy. *** Originally published in 1969 in the US and in 1970 in the UK, The Process was the author’s first novel, a hallucinatory tale set in the North African desert. Gysin (19 January 1916 – 13 July 1986) is known as the inventor of the cut-up technique and had a massive influence on the writing of William Burroughs, who called Gysin ‘the only man I’ve ever respected’. Painter, entrepreneur (he ran a restaurant with Paul Bowles in Tangier), inventor, performance artist and a ‘keef-crazed, razor-wielding, dada sprouting anarchist’, Gysin influenced many artists and writers while creating a highly original body of work.
