The Lime Works

Translated from the German by Sophie Wilkins. Stated first American edition. 241pp. Hardback in dust jacket. Publisher’s original brown cloth with gilt titles to front and spine. Publisher’s device blind-stamped to lower board. Orange top-stain. Deckle edges. Small brown spot to pp. 241-242. Otherwise fine. Jacket ever so slightly rubbed and age-toned. Faint sticker ghost to upper panel. A near fine copy of this scarce first printing of The Lime Works by Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard (1931-1989), first published in German as Das Kalkwerk (1970). The novel wasn’t published in the UK until 2010 (using the same translation). Extremely scarce.
