The film, mainly shot in San Francisco, chronicles the rise of gay activism in the United States between 1972 and 1978 in the aftermath of the Stonewall riots and before the arrival of the AIDS epidemic. It features interviews with a wide variety of gay people, from a gay nazi to porn movies stars and novelists Christopher Isherwood and John Rechy. The book, which came out at the same time, contains a selection of interviews from the film. Extremely scarce.
