Ballets (with handwritten poem by Sinclair Beiles)
£325.00
Saddle-stapled pictorial limp card wrapps. [20]pp. With handwritten poem signed and dated by Beiles spread out over two pages (verso of front cover and dedication page) and an autograph imprint and drawing to verso of ffe in the same hand. Light soiling to covers. A very good copy. *** Scarce collection of poetry by the South African beat poet and pioneer of the cut-up technique Sinclair Beiles (1930-2000) with drawings by Jemima Hunt. Unique with an additional autograph poem beginning “One day we shall pirohuette [sic]”. Beiles is probably best-known as one of the four authors of the groundbreaking poetry collection Minutes to Go (with William Burroughs, Gregory Corso and Brion Gysin), the first stand-alone publication showcasing the cut-up technique. WorldCat only lists two copies, both in South Africa. Published without imprint or date – in this copy, this is added by hand by Beiles.
