Black cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Some off-setting to endpapers, otherwise clean. A tight, square binding. The lower board has some damage: a dent to head and three indentations to cloth. (Please see photographs.) In unclipped first issue dust jacket without mention of the Booker Prize, which Naipaul would win that same year. A few nicks and cuts to back of dust jacket.
