Hardcover
Red cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. In laminated dust jacket, slightly scuffed to spine ends. *** A collection of four stories by Nabokov, spanning four decades. Three were originally written (and published) in Russian and are translated by Nabokov’s son Dmitry Nabokov. The fourth story, The Vane Sisters, was written in 1951 and first published in The Hudson Review in 1959 (after it had been turned down by The New Yorker). It’s one of the last stories Nabokov wrote before switching his production entirely to novels and poetry and it’s rated amongst his best. *** A scarce first UK printing.
