New Music No.1: The Sound of the Streets
4to. N.d. [c.1978]. Staple-bound pictorial wrappers. Slight shelf wear to covers with some creasing to leading corners. Unpaginated [c.60 pages]. Printed on multi-coloured paper, copiously illustrated throughout, including many full-page photographs. *** First [and only] issue of the magazine New Music. Not really a magazine but an overview of punk rock anno 1978, with biographies of all the bands that mattered – some still famous, most pretty much forgotten. A beautiful, lavishly illustrated contemporary publication about punk rock. Rare collector’s item. A second issue of New Music (entitled ‘Disco Sounds’) was announced, but it looks like it never appeared.
