Down and Out in Paris and London
First thus: first printing of the Secker & Warburg uniform edition. (Originally published by Gollancz in 1933.) Lacking dust jacket. Publisher’s original green cloth with red lettering to spine. Red top stain. Cloth faded and with some light foxing. A little fraying to spine ends. Foxing to endpapers and with a contemporary ownership inscription (1949) to ffep. Contemporary bookseller’s sticker to front paste-down. A very good copy of this collectible early edition of Orwell’s brilliant depiction of poverty.
