Translated from the French by Derek Coltman. Red cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. In Milton Glaser designed dust jacket. Two closed tears to head of jacket, repaired and reinforced with tape to reverse. *** The novel Ravages was initially published in France by Gallimard in 1955, but the editor censored the first one hundred and fifty page section of the book. This section depicted Violette’s sexual encounters with her female classmate, Isabelle P. The censored part was eventually published as a separate novella, Thérèse and Isabelle, in 1966. This first UK edition includes both the 1955 novel and the 1966 novella, restoring the original intention of the book. A very attractive copy of this scarce title.
