Soft cover
The Traveller’s Companion Series No. 83. First printing. NF15 on front flap and lower wrapper and with a green border to title page. Original printed wrappers. About fine. In very good dust jacket illustrated by Ronald Searle. Jacket a little browned and rubbed to edges with a couple of short closed tears to head of lower panel. *** Philip O’Connor (1916-1998) was a British writer and artist. He was part of the Fitrovia set, the ‘Wheatsheaf writers’ of 1930s. Steiner’s Tour was written before ‘Memoirs of a Public Baby’ but appeared two years after it, doing ‘the customary circuit of publishers who were reluctant to accept this unruly but incandescent mass of material’, according to the blurb.
