Translated from the Vietnamese by the author with Helen Coutant. *** Scarce first edition of this book of war poetry by Vietnamese Buddhist monk (and the “father of mindfulness”) Thich Nhat Hanh (11 October 1926 – 22 January 2022) who was exiled from Vietnam in 1966 after expressing opposition to the war and refusing to take sides. The drawings by Vo-Dinh (1933-2009) are a beautiful accompaniment to the poetry.
