Some scratches to front panel. *** A scarce first printing of Brophy’s 1964 novel, a “scandalous sensation” at the time. It garnered rave reviews when it was re-issued in paperback at the end of 2020. A “swirling, sumptuous, sensual feast of a book,” according to Lucy Scholes of the Guardian.
