“Pictures and comments by Stephan Lupino.” 4to. Limp card wrappers. Small inscription to verso of front cover. Slightly soiled to edges of text block. Otherwise fine. Unpaginated [c.120pp]. Introduction by Stephen Saban. *** A book of photographs by Stephan Lupino of the regulars and staff of the infamous Manhattan nightclub The World. This club operated largely outside the law from the early 1980’s until 1991 when its owner was found dead on the premises. It was a breeding ground of New York’s house scene and attracted a diverse clientele, including celebrity guests like Keith Haring, Madonna, Brooke Shields, Prince, Frank Zappa, etc. Amazing photographs, with Lupino’s captions and short sections with “remarks from his friends”. Scarce.
