Trawl [plus scarce proof dust jacket]

First edition. Narrow 8to. [23x13cm]. Publisher’s black cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Some foxing to edges of text block. In near fine John Holden designed dust jacket. With PROOF dust jacket. *** This first edition of Trawl includes a second, variant dust jacket, presumed to be a PROOF. The proof jacket has a different selection of blurbs to rear panel and the text on the flaps is spaced out differently: the author’s biography continues on rear flap, which doesn’t have the quote from the Irish Times that’s printed on the official jacket. Also missing is the publisher’s imprint to the bottom of the spine. Both jackets have the price of 27s 6d net printed to front flap. They are made from the same type of quality paper, but the proof jacket is not laminated. Exceptionally scarce.
