Trips. Rock Life in the Sixties
£45.00
First edition. Publisher’s bright orange boards with blue lettering to spine. Fine. In very good slightly shelfworn dust jacket. Closed tear to foot of lower panel and sunning to spine. Illustrated throughout. With a rather patronizing foreword by Terry Southern. *** Trips began as a biography on David Crosby, but turned into a much broader book about rock music and counterculture in America. Sander is an imaginative writer who describes the highs and lows of ‘rock life’ incredibly well, as in her famous piece about Led Zeppelin that’s included in the book. ‘A beautifully written, sweeping yet intimate account of America’s cultural awakening in that decade,’ wrote Rolling Stone magazine when the book was reissued in 2019. Quite right.
