Proof copy. Publisher’s pink printed wrappers with blurb pasted to front. Very slight creasing to spine, some discoloring to wrappers. Otherwise a pristine copy. *** After Lowry’s death in 1957 there was renewed interest in his work, leading to reprints and several posthumous publications. During his lifetime he only published two books: the magnificent Under the Volcano and his almost forgotten debut novel Ultramarine, which had been long out of print when a revised edition was published in America in 1962. (This was the first American edition.) Jonathan Cape published the same revised edition a year later in 1963. Our copy is a very scarce proof copy of that edition.
