The twenty-first number in the collectible series of miniature volumes published by Hanuman Books.*** Hanuman Books were published from 1986 until 1993, out of the Chelsea Hotel in NYC (and produced in Madras, India by the Kalakshetra Press). Authors include some of the biggest names in the avant-garde culture of that time, with people from the Beat poetry scene, gay and trans culture, Andy Warhol’s factory, San Francisco’s North Shore, as well as the art scenes from New York’s Lower East Side, the Naropa Institute and contemporary music and film. The design was based in Indian prayer books. They were all hand-sewn by locals. Fifty volumes were printed in total.
