Twiggy & Justin is a 1960s examination of the Twiggy phenomenon, published at the height of Twiggy-mania in 1968. Written by British-born journalist Thomas Whiteside, it initially appeared in The New Yorker. Whiteside followed Twiggy & Justin (her boyfriend and manager at the time) and their entourage around for many days after they arrived in New York in 1967 to model and promote Twiggy’s fashion line. *** Ten years earlier (a long, long time in the fashion world) French fashion designer Christian Dior published his autobiography Dior by Dior, just before his sudden death at the age of 52. It was translated into English by the then 25 year old Antonia Fraser who at that point worked as an ‘all-purpose assistant’ for the UK publisher. Christian Dior is best known as the founder of one of the world’s top fashion houses and as the creator of the ‘New Look’.
